Flutist Young In Kwon graduated from the preparatory school at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts in Austria while attending Sunhwa Arts High School. She then graduated with top honors with a bachelor's and master's degree from the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts and completed the highest performer course (KE). Currently, she is pursuing a doctorate at the Graduate School of Music at Seoul National University.
She established her reputation as a performer by winning
first place overall in the wind section at the International Music Competition
Citta di Padova, second place in the A.GI.MUS. International Competition for
Soloist and Orchestra di Sinfonica Radio Bratislava, and third place in the
Associazione International Edition of Virtuosite.
Kwon has also performed solo at the Scelsiana Music
Festival (Italy), Karlsruhe Korean Music Project's Night of Contemporary Music
(Germany), Shenyang Asian Flute Federation Ensemble (China), ArtM Concert solo
recital (Yujung Art Hall), Yujung Art Hall Rising Star Series solo recital,
Munrae Art Factory Contemporary Music Recital solo recital, Flute& New
Musicians Concert (Youngsan Art Hall), Klang Pause Project Chamber Orchestra,
Italy Padova solo recital, Victory Family Centre Vienna duo, Tirol Kulturhaus
Quintifax chamber music invitation concert, Austrian Presidential Residence
(Hofburg) invitation concert, Boesendorfer Young Artist Series, and Vienna
Stadtfest, among others. She has demonstrated her broad musical capabilities by
collaborating with the Bratislava Radio Orchestra and participating in various
performances.
She has completed academies such as TIMF (Tongyeong
International Music Festival), Academie Internationale d’Ete de Nice, and
Vienna Summer Akademie, and has deepened her musical knowledge by participating
in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Aurele Nicolet, Michael Martin
Kofler, Pierre Yves-Artaud, Phillipe Bernold, Paul Meisen, Ransom Wilson,
Vincent Lucas, Werner Tripp, Ulf-Dieter Schaaff, Henrik Wiese, Alberto Almarza,
Jeanny Baxtresser, and Carin Levin.
Having studied under Hye-ri Yoon, Wolfgang Schulz, Erwin
Klambauer, Gisela Mashayekhi-Beer, and Eui-gyeong Park, flutist Young-in Kwon
has served as a member of the Webern Symphony Orchestra, WK Phil. (Wiener
Koreanische Junge Philharmonie), Sorial Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Concert
Orchestra, Sejong Philharmonic, Herald Orchestra, United Orchestra, Gimpo
Philharmonic, Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Chungnam Symphony Orchestra,
Jeonju Symphony Orchestra, Ditto Festival Orchestra, and Tongyeong Festival Orchestra.
Currently, she is the principal flutist of the Ditto Festival Orchestra, a
member of the Ensemble TIMF, a guest member of the Tongyeong Festival
Orchestra, and a member of KFEA (Korean Flute Educators Association) and AFF
(Asian Flute Federation). She is actively performing and teaching at Sunhwa
Arts Middle School, contributing to the education of the next generation of
musicians.
