Violinist Hyun Nam Kim graduated from Sunhwa Arts
Middle School and Sunhwa Arts High School and then completed her studies in the
string department at Seoul National University's College of Music as the top
student. She furthered her education in Germany at the Freiburg National Music
University's Aufbaustudium program and the Trossingen National Music
University's Konzert Examen program. She showcased her skills at the 60th
Chosun Ilbo New Musicians Concert and, during her studies abroad, served as the
principal of the Swiss Neue Basler Orchestra and performed with the Freiburg
Philharmonic Orchestra in Germany. She held multiple solo recitals in Germany
and Switzerland and was invited to perform at music festivals such as the
Lucerne Festival and the Aspects Festival in Salzburg, Austria. After returning
to Korea, she expanded her activities through solo recitals at venues like the
Seoul Arts Center Recital Hall, Kumho Art Hall, and Ilshin Hall. She also
collaborated with orchestras including the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, Jeju
Chamber Orchestra, Ukraine National Yalta Orchestra, Millennium Orchestra,
Ukraine Zaporozhye City Orchestra, Pyeongtaek Philharmonic Orchestra, and
Gunsan Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally, as a member of the Ensemble TIMF,
she participated in events such as the 90th anniversary concert for Isang Yun in
Tokyo, Japan, and Osaka, Japan, and the Qingdao International Music Festival in
China. She also performed in Vatican, Athens, and Geneva during a European tour
and at the Lyon Opera House in France invited by Grame. She formed an ensemble
combining traditional Korean music, which was invited to the Zaragoza Expo in
Spain and the Sydney Korea-Australia 50th Anniversary Music Festival in
Australia, showcasing new genres of music. Her performances at events like the
G20 Summit banquet, Korea-ASEAN Summit, and the Korea-China-Japan Summit
received much attention for their novelty and freshness. Furthermore, she
experimented with various fusion stages through collaborations with dance, art,
and video. She has served as an instructor at Seoul National University and a
concertmaster of the Millennium Orchestra. She currently teaches at Yonsei
University, Soongsil Conservatory, Sunhwa Arts Middle School, Sunhwa Arts High
School, Yewon School, Seoul Arts High School, and Deokwon Arts High School. She
is also an active member of the Ensemble TIMF, Ensemble Pulim, and serves as
the principal of Ensemble Forum21.
